DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER THE CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 6, 2013 HAS BEEN CANCELLED
WELCOME to the website of the Montgomery County Retired Teachers' Association, an affiliate of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association !
President, Pat Love
I am honored to serve as President of the Montgomery Co. Retired Teachers' Association. Volunteeering to lead an organization which protects the benefits of retired educators is of great importance to me. I will continue to promote the importance of our association throughout the county and our state.
"Growing our Membership"is our theme for the year. I will spend my tenure with a focus on increasing membership. An organization is only as strong as its membership. We must all make an intentional effort to bring new members into our association. Our theme is reflective of the OHIO RETIRED TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION (ORTA).
To remain viable in our community we must involve more retirees. Strength comes in numbers and involvement. ORTA AND MCRTA are the voice of our retirees!
Our association continues to support community needs and supply children with clothing needs. MCRTA continues to work with State level representatives to keep our benefits in place. Thanks to our strong legislative committee, we were informed in a timely manner of recent benefit changes for retirees and upcoming retirees. The Legislative Committee will continue to work for you, but we need YOUR SUPPORT!
I am requesting every member of MCRTA to bring at least two non-members to join our association. Invite a potential member to at least two of our luncheon meetings this year. We are Retired and presently receiving our pensions, but we must not forget that things can and will change. We need support as we make our voices heard at the state level. The upcoming retirees need an association when they retire. Let's make it happen and continue for them!
If you have not joined ORTA, our state association, please, plan to become a member. Belonging to ORTA gives you a voice at the State level. ORTA remains actively involved in contacting and informing Ohio's Legislators about issues that impact Ohio's retired educators. The State association monitors and track all state and federal legislation that has potential impact on retired educators.
ORTA provides information and testimony both as an organization and through our coalition groups , such as HPA, Healthcare and Pension Advocates. MCRTA and ORTA will continue to work for you!
Please, contact me with any suggestions or ideas to make our association a stronger force in the community. I want to hear from you. Continue to visit our website for MCRTA information at www.mcrta.net or orta.org or www.strsoh.org.
Sincerely,
Patricia Love
MCRTA PRESIDENT 2013-2015
